Quality and sustainability are very important at MLL

Since its foundation, the MLL Munich Leukemia Laboratory has stood for quality, reliability and the best possible leukemia diagnostics for patients. Our quality guidelines are regularly put to the test by the independent organizations German Accreditation Body (DAkkS) and College of American Pathologists (CAP). MLL, our affiliated medical care center MLL MVZ and MLL Dx with the sequencing service MLLSEQ are accredited accordingly. MLL is also aware of its responsibility for the environment. For this reason, an environmental management system has been established, which has been certified by DEKRA.

Accreditations of the quality management system

Since 2009, MLL and MLL MVZ have met the requirements of the international standards DIN EN ISO 15189 "Medical laboratories - Particular requirements for quality and competence" and DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 "General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories". In addition, MLL Dx has been accredited according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 since 2019 and by the CAP according to the "Laboratory Accreditation Program" since 2021. Last year, MLL Dx was successfully re-accredited by the CAP, and the reassessment by the DAkkS was successfully carried out in January 2024.

MLL and MLL Dx examine patient samples as part of clinical studies. All requirements of Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP) are complied with. Compliance with these guidelines is regularly checked by the study partners during external audits. Last year, a total of six study audits took place, all of which were successfully completed.

In order to guarantee outstanding quality on a permanent basis, the premises and technical equipment are kept at the cutting edge of technology and only validated or verified analytical procedures are used. Employees take part in extensive further and advanced training and all analytical equipment is continuously monitored. In addition to external and internal quality controls, internal audits are carried out on a regular basis with the aim of continuous improvement. At the same time, an ongoing assessment of risks is used to take appropriate measures to minimize risks.

Certification of the environmental management system

Through the MLL goes green initiative, MLL aims to make its contribution to protecting the environment. The focus here is on the sustainable use of natural resources. In order to coordinate these efforts, an environmental management system was established at MLL, which has been certified by DEKRA in accordance with ISO 14001 "Environmental Management Systems" since 2021. The successful re-certification took place at the end of last year. Sustainable projects that have already been implemented in the company include the introduction of the JobRad, subsidies for the use of public transport and the provision of charging stations for electric cars and bikes. In addition, the company is working on reducing paper and electricity consumption and reducing waste or transferring it to recycling processes.
