Next-Generation Sequencing has rapidly become an essential method in molecular diagnostics and is now an integral part of state of the art diagnostics. The guiding principle "state of the art diagnostics in hematological malignancies" applies to the MLL Munich Leukemia Laboratory as well as to the MLL Academy, which was founded in 2018. Having established NGS in 2010 as a method in routine diagnostics, participants can benefit from the experience of MLL’s NGS and bioinformatics experts.

While NGS offers a striking diagnostic potential, its setup, optimization and the analysis of NGS data is complex. With this workshop on NGS, the MLL wants to share its expertise and knowledge, with consideration of every step in the protocol, from the preparation of libraries to the interpretation of collected NGS data. The program is designed to give insight into the role of NGS in routine diagnostics and experimental research as well as an outlook on future developments.

As typical for the MLL Academy, the course content will be presented as a mixture of lectures, practical exercises, demonstrations and group discussions. Participants should have a strong background in molecular genetics. Initial experience with NGS would be ideal, but is not a requirement.

Further detailed information can be found in the workshop program. If you are interested, the MLL Munich Leukemia Laboratory would be pleased to answer your questions concerning the workshop and registration. Please send an email to
