Looking Back at MLL Academy 2025
March 26, 2025
From March 24 to 26, the annual MLL Academy on
"State of the art diagnostics in hematological malignancies" took
place at the MLL in Munich. The event brought together nine international
participants from Germany, Turkey, Canada, USA, Ukraine and the Netherlands. A
varied program with theoretical and practical content as well as interactive
discussions on the diagnosis of leukemia and lymphoma awaited them.
The MLL Academy traditionally provides an
in-depth look at the latest developments and diagnostic methods in MLL. This
year's program covered the different diagnostic disciplines such as
cytomorphology, immunophenotyping, cytogenetics and molecular genetics. MLL's
interdisciplinary approach, genome sequencing and bioinformatics were also
discussed in detail. A special focus was on the use of artificial intelligence
and the resulting optimizations in diagnostics, which we already use on a daily
basis at MLL.
The current WHO classification with detailed
information on hematologic neoplasms was always an important aspect of the
program. Speakers focused on diagnostic criteria, guidelines and
recommendations.
Hands-on labs were particularly popular, allowing attendees to hone their microscopy and data analysis skills under expert guidance. The analysis of interactive case studies also enabled them to independently develop diagnoses and apply their knowledge in realistic scenarios.

The program was complemented by an exclusive
laboratory tour, where participants saw state-of-the-art equipment in action
and gained valuable insights into MLL's technologies, procedures and processes.
We would like to thank all participants for
their interest, commitment and inspiring exchange. We are already looking
forward to the next MLL Academy!
The dates for 2026 will be announced in our
newsletter at the end of the year.
