Corporate responsibility at the MLL

At the heart of our medical, diagnostic, therapeutic and scientific work is our responsibility to patients with hematological diseases. We see ourselves as a guide and driving force for the best possible diagnostics and therapies, for innovative developments, and for medical and scientific excellence. We focus on diversity, integration and interdisciplinary collaboration.

As a company, MLL Munich Leukemia Laboratory also stands for responsible corporate governance, an open, transparent and forward-looking corporate culture, resilient corporate values and an open society. Integrity and adherence to the principles of responsible business practices are a matter of course for us, as is the responsible treatment of all employees, business partners and resources.

For us, corporate responsibility also means taking full responsibility for a future that is worthwhile for society as a whole. The principle of responsibility guides our holistic approach to all professional, corporate and social issues, as well as to our internal and external stakeholders and partners.

Responsible Business Conduct

We believe that integrity and responsible business practices are the foundation for long-term success. Good medical and scientific practice is as natural to us as economically, environmentally and socially responsible business practices.

We are politically independent and neutral in principle. However, the MLL is clearly committed to liberal democratic values and an open society - and rejects opposing political attitudes. We respect the freedom of expression of individuals and groups in politics, business and society.  Nevertheless, there is no place at the MLL for inhuman ideas and anti-democratic ideologies.

Lawful, value-driven behavior, both internally and externally, is a matter of course. We treat our business partners with respect and fairness, and respect the marketplace and competition. We are committed to corporate due diligence, including in collaborations and with regard to our use of resources and our supply chains. We are aware of current global and societal challenges, such as climate change, resource scarcity, social injustice, anti-democratic and anti-freedom tendencies, and we want to actively counteract them.

Information, training and regulations ensure that our standards and values are upheld internally.

Diversity, Equal Opportunity and Employee Orientation

The key to our success are competent and enthusiastic employees whom we want to attract, retain and support in their development. At the interface between medicine, research and application, the MLL not only offers a broad spectrum of activities, but also creates a climate that fosters creativity and innovation and enables personal development and individual growth.

MLL is cosmopolitan, forward-looking and internationally open. We embrace the potential of diversity - and use it proactively and with conviction. We do not think or act in terms of gender, sexual orientation or identity, ethnicity, religion or belief, medical condition, age, nationality, language, socio-economic status or family structure. We are committed to equal opportunities, work-life balance and the inclusion of people with disabilities. We are a signatory of the Diversity Charter, as all employees enrich our professional and cultural skills. We also promote appropriate gender-neutral language.

The well-being of our employees is our guiding principle. In addition to excellent working conditions and a wide range of benefits, our attitude is complemented by the consistent responsible actions of our managers. It is based on shared responsibility for the company's success, responsible and supportive interaction with employees and their management, and a corresponding role model function.

Sustainability at the MLL

In addition to our diagnostic, medical and research work, we embed environmental, economic and social sustainability in all areas of our company as part of responsible corporate governance.

We are committed to protecting the environment and, together with our employees, we want to take responsibility for nature and tomorrow's world. It goes without saying that we use natural resources as sparingly as possible and strive to continually improve our processes to protect the environment and increase sustainability. On our way to carbon neutrality, we are implementing a number of corporate measures to make this claim a reality.

Our ISO 14001 environmental management system has been officially certified by DEKRA, an accredited certification body.
